Our Mission

To enhance the growth and expansion of minority business
enterprises.

Operated by the International Council for Business Opportunity
(ICBO), the Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC)
supporting Manhattan, Bronx, Westchester and New Jersey
is a public-private partnership federally funded by the U.S.
Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development
Agency (MBDA) which is the only federal agency credited
specifically to foster the creation, growth, expansion of minority-owned businesses in America.
Established in 1969 by Executive Order, MBDA expanded its role in 1971 to actively promote the
growth andcompetitiveness of large, medium, and small minority business enterprises (MBEs).

ICBO has for the past five decades been dedicated to small, minority businesses. ICBO's
commitment to entrepeneurial development has continued to provide professional information
to the businesses it serves. ICBO is as committed now as it was when it first began its
operations in 1962 to the growth and assistance of small businesses. Our business
consultants are successful entrepreneus who represent a variety of industries.
